Delivery & Pickup Processes & Guidelines

Pickup

  • We understand that you may be excited to get your landscape materials home, to the job site and get started. Picking up your own products will not only save you time and money on delivery, but you may need to take multiple trips due to weight, size and vehicle capacity.
  • Please park in the customer parking area until you have paid for your product(s) to keep the lanes clear. After you have paid, move to the area where your product can be loaded.

Other Things to Consider during Pick Up:

  • There are many types of vehicles that you may use to pick up and transport material. However, there is a limitation to what we can and will load. The vehicle must be loadable by our loader and must be loadable from the top. We don't load closed top vans through back doors or pick up trucks with lids that open less than 90 degrees from the bed. If your vehicle is not in a condition suitable for carrying the material, we may not load you. Your safety and the safety of others on the roadway are extremely important to us.
  • Check the pressure and load rating of your tires. If you need air, we suggest that you fill your tires properly before getting loaded to avoid damage to your tires.
  • Make sure any gaps are closed so material (esp. rock) doesn't fall out of your truck or trailer while driving.

Loading

  • Small projects or touch ups - If you need less than a yard, we carry 3 cubic foot bagged product that can be easily loaded into many vehicles and are both clean and easy to transport.
  • Sorry, we do not permit customers to shovel product into bags, car trunks, vans or any other vehicle at our facility.
  • We hold the right to deny loading of any product into any vehicle that we find unsafe and are not responsible for any damage to the purchaser’s vehicle during loading or off-loading of products.
  • Very capable trained employees perform our loading operation. All assigned personnel undergo a training program and must demonstrate knowledge and skills in all facets of skid steer operation and safety before they can load you. Most of our staff has numerous years of experience operating equipment. We can assure you that your vehicle will be loaded with the utmost care and safety. However, accidents can happen and if you are worried about your vehicle, we suggest you speak with a staff member or perhaps bring some protective padding (a tarp or blanket) for the side of your truck. We do load at your risk, but if you are concerned, we offer delivery.
  • Determining Your Pickup's Actual Payload- The only true way to determine the actual payload is to weigh your truck empty (with a full tank of gas) and subtract this weight and the weight of you and any passengers from the stated GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). The GVWR is usually stated on a model tag stuck on the driver side door or panel. The weight that is left over is what you can safely carry in the truck. Just keep in mind that any excess weight over the GVWR is an overload, which can damage the truck or make operating the truck dangerous.

Delivery

  • If you can’t accommodate a pick-up, we have easy, convenient & affordable delivery. Stone Landscapes delivers almost everything we sell for your landscape or construction project on our own fleet of trucks on time! See our rates, schedules, policies and tips for planning your delivery. (See delivery fee chart)
  • Our main delivery service is available within approximately a 50-kms radius of our location in North Waterloo (near St. Jacob’s Farmers Market). In some cases longer distance, (over 50kms) deliveries might be scheduled on an "as-available" basis and an additional fee will be charged per KM. If we can't deliver to you, we will make an effort to acquire the services of a third party (independent hauling company).

Delivery Scheduling:

  • Scheduling a delivery is a fairly easy thing to do. If you know what product you want, it can be ordered over the phone during business hours. Although, we always recommend that you come in and examine the product before you order it. At the time of the order you'll need to give us all the specifics (who, what, when, where, etc), and you can pay for it with a credit card over the phone. We will bring your receipt to you at the time of delivery.
  • We use a computerized delivery system that allows orders to be scheduled in hourly increments. We schedule on a first-come-first-served basis. We regret we cannot commit to an exact time of day; however, we will do our best to indicate AM or PM for the delivery time frame and only unforeseen events would alter the schedule. Since these things rarely happen, you can be assured you'll get your order in the time frame specified. We offer an “Extended Delivery” time in the evenings on certain days for some loads – please ask for our staff details.
  • Even though we have the capability of doing many deliveries each day, many orders are scheduled weeks ahead and the day/time period you desire may already be assigned to someone else. This is especially true of prime times like Friday and Saturday. Our recommendation is to always try to schedule a delivery several days in advance.
  • We require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes. Less than 24 hours notice of cancellation will result in a $25.00 cancellation fee.
  • Unless a particular truck size is specified, for scheduling purposes, Stone Landscapes reserves the right to send a truck that may be larger than necessary to complete your order. This being said, the delivery charge will always be based on distance and size of equipment for your order – your delivery fee will not be increased due to a larger truck needed.
  • Due to our very busy delivery schedule we are not able to dump in multiple locations (distributing the material around your property).

Delivery Restrictions and Truck limitations:

  • Safety is our number one! Our trained delivery personnel know the capabilities and limitations of the equipment; please trust their judgment. Our drivers have the final say on where the load being delivered can be placed.
  • Our drivers will do the best they can to safely accommodate your dump requests. However, we guarantee curbside delivery only.
  • Although we take great care during our deliveries, we enter your property at your request and risk, and we will not be responsible for any possible damage to driveways, sidewalks, overhanging trees or other obstacles that may be present. When deciding where you would like your materials dumped, please check the area for overhead wires, low tree limbs, etc. Also take into consideration the height clearance or tight turnaround space required by our trucks while dumping.
  • We deliver and will dump on your property only. We will not drive on or trespass on property that is not yours. Furthermore, we cannot jeopardize public safety by dumping material in the street or other public right-of-ways.
  • It is not necessary that you be present for your delivery. Provide us with instructions and a signed waiver at the time of purchase, mark the area clearly where you want to have the load dropped and we will endeavor to meet your wishes. Please note we cannot be responsible for product delivered in the wrong area if the area was not properly marked or if the driver felt he could not accommodate the request.
  • In the wet weather the ground is very soft. It is very important that you have an alternate delivery area planned. The delivery surface must be relatively level as we cannot dump on uneven or unstable surfaces. Steep driveways or hills (8 to 10 degrees) may be a problem.
  • Driveway and new pavement deliveries- new pavement needs time to cure, typically one year. If your driveway is already damaged, has a rut or has a weak spot, a dump truck may make it worse. Any load that has to be redelivered based on the purchaser will be subject to an additional delivery fee.
